Dr Berardi

Dr. Joseph Berardi is a Board Certified Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a graduate of Canisius College and Georgetown University Medical School, and interned at the Washington Hospital Center. After serving as the Presidential Flight Surgeon for Air Force One, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the E.J. Meyer Hospital, now E.C.M.C.

He is Chief of Ophthalmology at Sisters Hospital and has served as Clinical Assistant Professor at SUNY UB’s Ophthalmology Program, training residents in the surgical technique of phacoemulsification (small-incision cataract surgery) and the use of the first foldable soft intraocular lens. He has been involved in laser vision correction since it was introduced in 1991, compiling and supplying data for the FDA approval of laser for use in the U.S.

Dr. Berardi utilizes the latest surgical techniques, including laser-assisted cataract surgery, multi-focal and toric intraocular lens implants.

Dr. Joseph Berardi is happy to join Ophthalmology Associates of Western New York, after being a solo practitioner for over 30 years.
